Hunter Geotechnical Services (HGS) is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to spearhead our operations and business development in the Mid-North Coast of NSW. Based in Port Macquarie, this is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the safe and profitable management of diverse engineering projects while maintaining the highest industry standards.

You will be a key driver in identifying new business opportunities across the mining, transport, water, and government sectors, while mentoring our local geotechnical team to exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Lead the expansion of HGS in the Mid-North Coast of NSW by building and maintaining strong relationships with new and existing clients.

  • Technical Leadership: Ensure the integrity of all reporting in accordance with relevant engineering practices, including geotechnical investigations (AS1726), site classifications (AS2870), and pavement designs.

  • Project Management: Oversee project lifecycles, from scheduling testing and drilling workloads to reviewing financial performance data with the Geotechnical Engineering Manager.

  • Team Mentorship: Provide day-to-day guidance, identify training needs, and foster a culture of high work standards and ethics.

  • Specialised Services: Lead design and certification for footings, piling, earth retaining structures, and acid sulfate soil assessments.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for a professional at the Senior, Associate, or Principal level with:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent.

  • A minimum of 8+ years of relevant work experience in geotechnical engineering.

  • CPEng Certification (Essential).

  • TfNSW Slope Assessor qualification (Highly Regarded).

  • Demonstrated ability to develop company strategies and increase market share.

  • A proactive approach to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
